Its also can connect directly to many battery BMS unit allowing you in some cases to get more in depth data than is available from the OBD port,
And this function is also very useful for doing tests on a battery that is not fitted to the vehicle, so you can test a used battery before purchasing it and or test before fitting to the vehicle
